Johnny Saldivia
Johnny Saldivia was born in Mayagüez, and raised in Rincón Puerto Rico. Johnny grew up in his foster parent's home since the age of one until he decided to join the US Army where he served for nine years. He has five siblings from his natural mother's side, three from his natural father's side, and three from his foster family, plus a foster sister that grew up with him. Some of his brothers and sisters have passed on. Johnny collects stamps and coins (mostly from Puerto Rico and USA), baseball cards (from Roberto Clemente and other Boricuas in the Major Leagues), and VW bugs. He has a beautiful daughter, Raquel, whom he adores, and a lovely wife, Eva, whom he married in 1999.
Johnny exemplifies the Puerto Rican culture on a daily basis through his passion and dedication. His vision is to bring the Puerto Rican community to the forefront, as illustrated through the increase of membership, event attendance, and finances during his three non-consecutive terms as Chairman. He has also taught the organization effective leadership skills and drives everyone to unite under one common goal; to increase awareness of the Puerto Rican culture in an area comprised of many Latin communities. Johnny currently has served on the Puerto Rican Civic Club of San José Executive Board since 1991 ; he was the President for eight years, Vice President twice, and Master of Ceremonies for a couple of years, Event Planner, Editor, and Parliamentarian, and has helped with many secretary and treasurer functions.
