Supporting our Island's Non-profits
THANK YOU!!! Bill approved by the House and Senate ... Now for the Governor!
This project CC 709 was already approved yesterday in the Senate thanks to your support and communication efforts and email to our Senators. Thank you!!!!
Now we need to communicate and bring voice to Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced and get her approval. This orders to appoint the Department of Recreation and Sports to establish a co-administration agreement with the non-profit organization "Rescates Playas Borinquen" with the purpose of administering, guarding and developing the parcels of land belonging to the Department of Recreation and Sports in Barrio Borinquen of the Municipality of Aguadilla. Pass it on.
What can you do to help?
1. Call Fortaleza (408) 724-2650
Request to be transferred to the Legislative Services office. Surely Mrs. Gonzalez will answer you. Identify yourself with your name and what your voice represents; Eg Resident of Ramey, Citizen of Aguadilla, Support to rescue our beaches, Merchant of Aguadilla, User of the beaches in Ramey etc.
Indicate that you and your community support the resolution of Chamber CC709 that was approved by the Chamber and Senate and await the signature of the Governor.
2. Send email to the legislative services office in favor of the signing of the resolution of the Chamber CC709. Identify yourself with your name and what your voice represents. Send email to: ggonzalez@fortaleza.pr.gov
Example of Email,
Request for signature of Resolution CC709 by the Honorable Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced,.
During yesterday, Joint Resolution CC709 was approved in favor of our project in the PR Senate. We need your support with your approval. Since 2012, we have worked with our own resources and funds ($ 154,752.27) to maintain, improve, and restore the areas of interest in the ruins of the ruins at the Ramey de Aguadilla Base, which had been in total abandonment for decades. These areas were named by the National Geographic Society as one of the top 30 beaches in the world, and are the engine of our economy through those who visit them.
We have managed to reduce crime, restoring the structures, turning them into areas of community and tourist interest. We have eradicated clandestine landfills, rehabilitated trails, repaired pavement on roads, built a panoramic observation deck on the beach, two pedestrian bridges on walking trails, monthly maintenance with a tractor and trimmer to recreational and green areas, among other improvements.
Resolution CC709, a co-administration agreement between Rescate Playas Borinquen and the DRD, is essential because it provides us with the necessary tool to move forward and continue with the project, and is the last document (16 of 17) necessary to get federal funds to continue the rehabilitation of our community use areas. These achievements have been made possible through the collaboration of Ramey residents, the support of local businesses, The Puerto Rican Civic Club of San Jose, Ca, Niños Escuchas de PR, The University of PR, Princeton University, The Coast Guard, Ramey Historical Association, the community of surfers and water sports, the volunteers of Rescate Playas Borinquen and of course, the continued collaboration of the Municipality of Aguadilla through the Honorable Carlos Méndez and now the Honorable Mayor Yanitzia Irizarry.
